YHI is a divinity of the first order in the mythology of the Karraur, since she is the creator goddess. According to the legend of these Australian aborigines, before the creation of our world the goddess lay asleep in "Dreamtime", a peaceful place with quiet mountains. Yhi peered into a world of darkness and filled it with light.

The Legend

Many moons ago, the earth was dark and silent. Nothing moved. It was the time of dreams. In a dark cave, a beautiful maiden named Yhi laid deep in sleep. The Great Spirit whispered, "Yhi ... Yhi ... rise up."
Yhi opened her eyes and with her rays of light she drove away the darkness that covered the earth. She rose and began a long journey. As Yhi walked, flowers sprang- up in her very footprints and she did not rest until everything was covered with a green mantle.
She created water with her magical light. And the land filled with radiance and life. Life exploded and evolved, creating harmony and colors, scents and shapes.
