It has the curious characteristic of having two Catholic churches beside the same park: the Parroquial Mayor (16th century), in a late Baroque style and with a gold-plated altar; and the church of the Buen Viaje, neoclassical, built in 1818. Remedios is famous for its 'parrandas', local festivities with a long tradition.

City of Santa Clara

The capital of Villa Clara, the most central of the Cuban provinces. Its geographical location makes it easily accessible from some of the major tourist destinations in the country. Founded in 1689, it was the scene of the final battles which, led by Ernesto Che Guevara, resulted in the triumph of the revolution on 1 January 1959. This was the reason for the construction of the impressive mausoleum which is the resting place for the remains of the legendary Cuban-Argentinean revolutionary and of some of his comrades who fell in Bolivia.

Erected in Santa Clara, this mausoleum contains the remains of the legendary Cuban-Argentine guerrilla, Ernesto Che Guevara and those of some of his comrades in arms who died in Bolivia. Personal effects that belonged to Che and his comrades during the national liberation war in Cuba from 1956 to 1959 and during the Bolivian 1967 epic are also on display.
