An impressive stone causeway linking the village of Caibarién with the northern keys. Due to the outstanding achievements in terms of environmental conservation and its construction, the causeway received the Puente de Alcántara Ibero-American Award, the highest accolade ever awarded for Cuban civil engineering.


Marina Gaviota

Located on Cayo Ensenachos, it offers various types of fishing, catamaran trips and yacht excursions to explore the nearby keys: Francés, Cobos, Majá, Fragoso, Las Picúas and Español de Adentro, among others. It boasts a modern Dolphinarium/Aquarium which is open all year round and offers a diverse programme of activities, including sea lion and dolphin shows. It has the curious characteristic of having two Catholic churches beside the same park: the Parroquial Mayor (16th century), in a late Baroque style and with a gold-plated altar; and the church of the Buen Viaje, neoclassical, built in 1818. Remedios is famous for its 'parrandas', local festivities with a long tradition.

The city that pays permanent tribute to Ernesto “Che” Guevara, the Heroic Guerrilla, who led the struggle for its liberation at the end of 1958. With a wealth of historical and cultural traditions, its visitors are invited to admire the monuments and sculptures commemorating the fight for its people, as well as the artistic legacy of which it is so proud. The legacy of trova, the classic genre of music which is celebrated at the “El Mejunje” Cultural Centre.

Erected in Santa Clara, this mausoleum contains the remains of the legendary Cuban-Argentine guerrilla, Ernesto Che Guevara and those of some of his comrades in arms who died in Bolivia. Personal effects that belonged to Che and his comrades during the national liberation war in Cuba from 1956 to 1959 and during the Bolivian 1967 epic are also on display.
