Marque of Excellence 2008 accorded to Paradisus Rio de Oro

Thomas Cook, one of the most important tour operators in the world recently accorded its Marque of Excellence Award to Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort & Spa, a property which began and closed the year 2008 with several important prizes. The award is granted in accordance with the quality ratings granted by clients of this important company who stayed at Paradisus Rio de Oro. This is the fifth time the hotel receives the Marque of Excellence Award (2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008).
Conceived for adults over 18years, Paradisus Rio de Oro is a 5-star Ultra All-Inclusive hotel- property of Gaviota Tourist Group and operated by Sol Meliá Cuba- located in Playa Esmeralda in the north-eastern province of Holguin.
After the passage of Hurricane Ike, the hotel was temporarily closed for a number of repairs including the redecoration of the El Patio (international), Mediterranean, Tsuru (Japanese) and El Bohío (Cuban) restaurants. La Ceiba buffet restaurant and the area adjacent to the Club House were completely remodeled; the swimming pool area was expanded and the reception and lobby were redesigned A new piano bar will commence operations soon.
